Brief on the 7 Days Uganda Martyrs Pilgrimage Tour From 30th May 2024 to 5th June 2024.

The canonized Uganda Martyrs were a group of young Christian and Muslim who were killed between 1885 to 1887 because they chose to defend their faith. The men were executed under the orders of the Kabaka (King) Mwanga of Buganda. The Martyrs were killed primarily because they refused to denounce Christianity as their religion. The Rev. Can. Diana Mirembe Nkesiga, the Vicar of All Saints Cathedral in Kampala, says that the purpose of people making pilgrimages to the Uganda Martyrs’ shrine is to understand the sacrifice that the martyrs made.

June 3, every year is celebrated as the Uganda Martyrs Day with Main Celebrations in Namugongo, the site where the Martyrs where killed and today we have the The Catholic Shrine and Anglican Shrines situated. This event attracts Millions of Pilgrims from across the World including Nigeria and Kenya that flock Uganda to celebrate the martyrs.

This 7 Days Uganda Martyrs Pilgrimage and Tour is mainly focused on spiritual nourishment of the Christian believers but we also incorporate excursions to other unique tourism sites like the The Kabaka’s Palace and Parliament, Source of the Nile in Jinja, The Ndere Cultural Centre and sightseeing in Kampala.

Brief Itinerary:

30th May: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Check in at Speke Resort Munyonyo ( 5 star).

31st May : Breakfast and Visit the Munyonyo Martyrs Basilica . Thereafter depart for Jinja City excursions like Source of the Nile cruise, Ziplining and rafting( optional at extra cost), and more . Lunch at the Source of the Nile Hotel. Return to Kampala ( Dinner and Overnight at Speke Resort)

1 June : Breakfast. Breakfast. Depart for Kabaka’s ( King’s Palace) Tour, the Bulange Parliament, Kabaka’s Lake, and Rubaga Cathedral. Lunch and coffee experience at COFFEE AT LAST restaurant.. Afternoon Visit to the Uganda Martyrs Museum in Namugongo. Depart for Ndere Centre for Evening Cultural Performance and Dinner. Overnight at Speke Resort Munyonyo )

2nd June. Breakfast. The morning will be reserved for Sunday Mass and Worship at selected churches for those would like to attend. Then afternoon for shopping experience around Kampala. Dinner and Overnight at Speke Resort Munyonyo

3rd June. Early breakfast at 5am and Depart for Namugongo to attend the Uganda Martyrs Day Celebrations. Dinner and overnight at the Speke Resort Munyonyo
